Konkona Sensharma's film 'A Death in the Gunj'

The eighteenth release of Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Celebration will open with performing artist Konkona Sensharma's directorial debut 'A Demise in the Gunj'.

The opening film will be screened on 21st October 2016. The film has earned basic recognition globally and was as of late screened at the 41st Toronto Film Celebration.

Konkona has likewise composed the motion picture, which has been shot at different areas in McCluskiegunj, Jharkhand.

A story about growing up, set in the 1970s, the motion picture rotates around a family get-away and depends on genuine occasions.

"I'm really energized and respected that ADITG will be the opening film at MAMI! It is the city of my work and where the film was considered and prepared and I'm truly anticipating the general population of my city watching it!," Konkona said in an announcement.

"A year ago, we opened with Hansal Mehta's capable "Aligarh" and we are enchanted that 'A Demise in the Gunj', another Indian film will open for the celebration this year. It is a flawless film to unfurl the unfathomable line-up we've gathered for our agents," celebration chief Anupama Chopra said.

Vikrant Massey assumes the lead part in the film nearby on-screen characters like Kalki Koechlin, Tillotama Shome, Gulshan Devaiah, Ranvir Shorey and yesteryear legends, Om Puri and Tanuja.

"Udta Punjab" chief Abhishek Chaubey is the maker in association with Nectar Trehan under the flag of MacGuffin Pictures.

"We had scarcely begun commending the calls from Toronto and Busan when we got the best news of all! To be the opening film at MAMI is a particular honor. Nothing beats playing for a home group!," Chaubey said.
